We will be celebrating International Dot Day the week of September 16th by creating our own dots, sharing with other classes, and reflecting on how we will make our “mark” in the world.
International Dot Day is named for the classic Peter H. Reynolds storybook The Dot. Available in English and many other languages, the book shares the story of a girl who begins a journey of self-discovery after a caring teacher challenges her to “make her mark.”
Here is a really neat global project created on a site called Scratch where you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share your creations with others in the online community.
Check it out! Just click the green flag to get started then click on the different dots to see artwork from around the world. Click on the red stop sign to reset.
